Image Analysis & Light Microscopy
Digital imaging can highlight and document important specimen features.
Digital imaging technology can be employed to:
- Characterize welds and brazes:
- Porosity
- Leg lengths
- Shape measurements
- Evaluate platings and coatings:
- Thickness
- Porosity
- Phase characterization
- Bonding interfaces
- Inclusions
- Analyze constituent distribution profiles:
- Air and aggregate in concrete
- Fibers/fillers in composites
- Metallic grain sizes/structures
The M+P Labs' imaging capabilities include photomacrography in magnifications up to 50X, and photomicrography up to 1000X using brightfield, darkfield, polarized light or differential interference contrast imaging.
Versatile image processing and analysis software and automated stage microscopy are available for rapid quantitative image analysis of large or intricate cross sections. Digital photography captures images directly with a wide dynamic range, and allows specific tonal adjustment and convenient electronic distribution.
