The M&P Lab Comments on ISO 17025 Registrar’s Withdrawal from NACLA
On August 3, 2010, PRI/Nadcap, our ISO 17025 registrar, informed us that it was no longer accredited to certify testing laboratories to ISO 17025. This was the direct result of PRI’s decision to withdraw on May 18, 2010, from NACLA.
The M&P Lab is now consulting with clients and other testing laboratories to determine the impact this decision has on the accreditation standing of the industry, and on our own standing.
Because we have been successfully audited at both the Greenville SC and Schenectady NY facilities since 2005 to Nadcap’s AC7006 checklist, which they developed to accredit to ISO 17025, and because we just completed a full-scope audit to that checklist in our Greenville, SC testing laboratory in June 2010, we believe that we hold the equivalent of ISO 17025 certification in Greenville. Indeed, we are asking our clients whether they will recognize the AC7006 checklist until we can secure a new registrar to replace PRI. The ISO 17025 certification covering our Schenectady facility remains current.
Because PRI didn’t announce their inability to issue ISO 17025 certificates until a month before our audit, we were unable to avoid the imminent expiration of our ISO certification on July 31, 2010. We are now making every effort to obtain a new registrar in time for our Schenectady, NY full-scope audit in February 2011 and to determine whether the full-scope audit we conducted in Greenville will have to be repeated.
If you are a client and have questions about this change in our certification status, please contact Frank Anderson or Shirley Strickland at 518-382-0082
Thank you.
